Meals on Wheels' volunteers devote an estimated 17,500 hours annually packing food and delivering over 78,000 meals to home-bound people living in southern Larimer County. Meals on Wheels has over 250 volunteers who help in our mission of serving those in need.

Meals on Wheels provides volunteer opportunities in three different areas of need to home-bound clients. We offer services to a diverse community and strive to show that diversity in our staff and volunteers.
Meal Delivery Volunteers: Regular and Substitute Drivers
Over 250 volunteer drivers devote their time and resources to delivering meals to our clients. In 2018, our volunteers drove over 76,000 miles to deliver meals and provide wellness checks for one of our community’s most vulnerable populations. Our drivers have been known to do much more than deliver a meal and check on the welfare of those they serve; they often get the mail, take out trash, do small repairs, go to the store, shovel snow, rake leaves, deliver frozen meals, go to birthday parties and more. Clearly, the extra efforts that our volunteers take on shows they are here to serve because they love to help others.
The extra care and attention our volunteers give to our clients has saved the lives of many over the years.
We are currently recruiting for regular and substitute drivers.
Kitchen Volunteers
Each day, our kitchen volunteers arrive at 8:00am to help our kitchen staff package meals for the day and help prep food for upcoming meals. In addition, kitchen volunteers can assist with washing dishes and clean-up after the meals go out. All kitchen volunteers are trained in proper sanitation procedures and safe food handling methods.
Community Outreach Volunteers
Various events are scheduled to raise awareness and funds in our community. Opportunities in this area include:
Volunteer support: event planning, on-site participation, marketing efforts including social media, traditional media and media production
Development support: research, planning, data entry
Present: on behalf of Meals on Wheels to local civic groups
Volunteer should have the following:
Interest and commitment to homebound hunger/health/independence
Familiarity with Loveland, Berthoud and surrounding communities
Excellent listening and communication skills
Ability to stay non-judgmental and supportive
Ability to work professionally with a variety of people
Desire to make a one-year commitment
