Finding a Sense of Community Through Meals on Wheels

In the heart of Loveland lives Marilyn, an 81-year-old widow with a love for gardening and a treasure trove of stories. Once vibrant and bustling, her home has grown quieter over the years, with children grown up and a bustling community life now a memory.

Marilyn became a part of our Meals on Wheels family a couple of years ago. It started with nutritious meals, but what truly has blossomed is something far more nourishing. Every afternoon, along with her meal, Marilyn eagerly awaits the arrival of one of our dedicated volunteers.

Our volunteers don’t just deliver a meal - they bring along warm smiles and eager ears to listen. Over the past few years, Marilyn has shared tales of her youth, her travels, and even some of her secret gardening tips! These visits have rekindled a spark in Marilyn’s eyes - a mix of joy and belonging.

Marilyn once watched days blend into one another. Now, she has stories to look forward to and share. These connections have not just enriched Marilyn’s life, but they have also inspired the volunteer drivers who deliver her meals. Volunteers deliver meals, but they leave with stories and wisdom that no book can offer.

Your support provides more than a meal
