AFTERNOON COOK

We are currently looking to hire a Part-time Cook. Please read below and follow all the application instructions completely. 

OVERVIEW:

Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud (MOWLB) is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the community since 1968. Our mission is to nourish and enrich the lives of homebound individuals with nutritious meals and daily contact by caring volunteers. We provide 95,000 meals per year to over 800 people with a team of fourteen employees and over 250 volunteers. Our office is located in downtown Loveland. 

POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Afternoon Cook is an important position at Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud. They are responsible for preparing and cooking the weekday meals for our partner, Community Kitchen and will provide support as needed with extra/substitute support in the kitchen. They need to be able to work independently and without supervision, following instructions to completely prepare the meals for Community Kitchen on time.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Alignment with the MOWLB Value Action Statements

  • Be flexible and willing to perform many different tasks in a kitchen

  • Able to multitask and/or switch job duties quickly

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and complete all tasks in a timely manner

  • Basic math and counting skills

  • Must be a team player and work well in groups

  • Clear communication skills

  • Proficient knife skills

  • Decision making and problem solving skills, often with minimal supervision.

  • Able to operate all foodservice equipment

  • Previous food preparation experience

  • Must be able to pass  the Colorado Food Manager Certification within 90 days of hire

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

This is a part-time, non-exempt position, M-F, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with some minor flexibility available. There is also opportunity to fill-in during the day and/or weekend as other cooks are off.  We have a top-quality staff with an excellent work culture. WE provide 60 hours of paid time off per year with incremental increases. Salary Range: $15 - $17 per hour..
