MOWLB Volunteer Grand Prix Wrap Up!

what a race!

While we might have fallen just short of our fundraising goal for this first time event, we are extremely pleased to share that our fabulous Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud Volunteers helped raise $5144 - funding that will go to support our community’s at-risk population through Meals on Wheels!

This was more than just a fundraising event - it was an opportunity to have our organization’s greatest ambassadors, raise awareness about the issues of food insecurity and social isolation that so many of our homebound and aging neighbors face. It was designed to be a part of our organization’s participation in Meals on Wheels America’s March for Meals celebration.

Every year in March, Meals on Wheels celebrates the historic day in 1972 when a national nutrition program was added to the Older Americans Act, supporting the rapid growth of the Meals on Wheels network that now collectively serves 2.8 million older adults each year.

RACE RESULTS

Our MOWLB Volunteer Grand PRix ran from March 1 - 31st. We invited each group of daily volunteers to join in this friendly competition to see which group could raise the most money towards our $6800 fundraising goal. The group that raised the most money earned bragging rights, along with some special VIP treatment at our upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Picnic that we host every year in September (details on the VIP status and benefits to come!).

We are excited to share the results of our first MOWLB Volunteer Grand Prix Fundraising Race:

In 4th place, speeding in with a total of $677 raised, was our Friday Qualifiers Team!

In second place, our Wednesday Wheelies cam in with an impressive $1300! This was the goal we had set for each team. Wednesday Wheelies came through strong!

We cannot thank our wonderful volunteers enough - not only for their time, effort, and dedication - but for also stepping up as our organization’s best ambassadors.

While the funds raised during this event are wonderful and will go a long ways in helping to ensure the future operation of our organization the services we provide, we are grateful for the additional visibility our volunteers brought to our mission and cause through this event.

By sharing their passion for helping our aging neighbors and loved ones in need, they inspired others to champion the cause as well - making them all winners!

Coming in at 5th place, just slightly below our halfway mark on our race tracker, was our Thursday Volunteer Group - the Thursday Grand Slams. They raised a total of $486!

For most of the month, it was neck and neck between our second and third-place teams. We are thrilled to share that our Tuesday Tire Shakers clinched third place, raising $1,180!

And coming out on top in 1st place with a whopping $1501 raised, our newly minted, VIP Monday Motor Stars! They took the lead early, and although there were a couple of weeks when the Wednesday team came close, they managed to hold the lead!
